Find your Bubble wrap moment
Relaxation through fun
Just a quick blog today, to encourage you to think about this:
What is your guilty pleasure?
I've just returned from delivering a workshop to a great bunch of university staff and they reminded me of something I used to include in my workshops. We were discussing the benefits of losing yourself in an activity and the feeling of indulging in a 'guilty pleasure.' Examples included, going for a walk, gardening, a hobby, and singing in a choir.
It brought back to me my 'bubble wrap challenge.' I used to, at the end of workshops, bring out a piece of bubble wrap and set delegates away on competing against each other in a bid to pop all the bubbles in the quickest possible time.
It was a great way to return to a fun state, something which stress often robs us of over time. I even recall having a 'bubble wrap popping' game on one of my older websites!
So, returning to my original question, ask yourself; 'what activity do I love, or in which I can lose myself?'
Keep it honest, clean and non-violent, but reintroduce some playfulness or selfish indulgence into your life. Even 10 minutes a day can have some dramatic results in terms of your stress levels and happiness .
Go on, you know you want to ;)
Keep an eye out for the next blog.
