Who is the DADy?

My Mantra for Getting sh*t done

Well, it's daily sprout  number 365.  A whole year!  Can you believe it?  Maybe not if you've watched every one of them ;0 . I hope you have found them valuable so far.  I am going to complete the series at number 500, so plenty more to come.

In the meantime, today's daily sprout  is something which I find really useful as a mantra of sorts (not sure I like that word but it fits here - watch the video and you will see why).  I have a tendency to get so wrapped up in working on stuff that I forget to stop and review and ask myself if what I am working in actually needs to be done.  I also forget to see if there's a way to speed the task up through automation (like a keyboard shortcut or something).  And I also can forget that delegation is an option.  So, my DAD, acronym really helps me to just stop, take a breathe and ask myself - can I DAD this?  Check out the video for a bit more on this:

Let me know your thoughts on this one.  How do you ensure you don't work away on things that can either be ditched or done better by someone or something else?

Who's the daddy? A quick productivity tip here, and a mantra that I use regularly when I am focusing on productivity, and it's not who's the daddy, it's DAD, ditch, automate, or delegate. I have that in my head whenever I'm focusing or planning a project, deciding the actions, or actually working through something. And I ask myself these questions. Do I actually need to do this? The D. 'Cause if not, I ditch it. And that's about stepping away and saying, what's my motivation? Is it a should, or is it a could, or is it actually taking me towards a goal? A, automate. Is there a way to simplify this process, this task, to turn it into a keyboard shortcut, or a simple process that is automated that I therefore don't have to do? And if not, can I delegate it? Can I pass this on to somebody else who is better at it, quicker at it, more qualified, and will free up my time to focus on the doing of the really important valuable tasks that I am best suited to do? So ditch, automate, or delegate.
