Wait until it is a problem

daily sprout 212

In today's daily sprout  I share something which may sit uncomfortably with some of you.  especially the perfectionists, like me, out there.  The truth is, for many of us it's easy to fall into the habit of trying to anticipate and solve every foreseeable problem before they happen.  it makes sense.  If we can fix it before it happens, then why not.  But there is a cost to that if we take it too far.  We can spend all our time solving problems that have not and may not happen whilst forgetting that we need to get things moving now.  Our goals need action to happen and sometimes we can slip into the comfort zone of perfecting and preparing rather than 'going live' with the goal.  So, watch today's video as I explore this.  Transcript below.

- Wait until it is a problem.

(upbeat music)

Now, must be careful with this one

because what I'm not saying

is just let things happen

and unfold if a disaster is obvious

or something is obviously

going to go wrong.

But, if you tend to be somebody who

is always anticipating problems,

anticipating them so far into the future,

then start to get comfortable

with letting things

just unfold more naturally,

allowing things to happen

and problems to become more manifest

before you address them.

Anticipating the problem too

soon, too far in advance,

you end up solving problems

that may never come to light

and maybe not making

progress on the things

that are actually here and now.

If you make progress on the here and now,

the problems may actually dissolve

before you get there.

So don't solve problems

before they happen.

of your daily routine.
