In this episode Dave is joined by Aileen Smith Aileen is a professional nutritional therapist and health coach at Runners Health Hub and she co-hosts podcast- SHE RUNS EATS PERFORMS. The two explore Aileen's own midlife journey and her work with clients recovering from burnout and her more current focus working with midlife female runners.
Aileen is a professional nutritional therapist, health coach and podcaster.
Prior to her career in nutrition, Aileen took her Corporate Catering business from start up to sale in 10 years and in her words:
“Although I was very successful, I paid with my health. I learned first- hand how running a successful business 24/7 can take a toll on your health and to running on empty.
I had a bit of a wake-up call. I call it my “enough is enough” moment and I started to transform my health. I discovered a love of running and nutrition.
This led me to studying Nutritional Therapy for 4 years at ION (Institute for Optimum Nutrition) in London and during that time set up my next business – The Health Heroine, specialising in helping people to find an easy and smart way to be healthy in business”.
Fast Forward to 2022 ... Aileen has developed a business helping female runners of all abilities achieve great health and good shape whilst staying injury-free with easy-to-understand sports nutrition concepts and easy-to-implement tips and plans.
Alongside her business partner and fellow nutritionist, Karen Campbell, Aileen is a Co-Founder of Runners Health Hub and Co- Host of Podcast She Runs Eats Performs.
Aileen is a recreational runner focusing on 10 k to 1/2 marathon and has 12 Great North Runs under her belt. Karen is an endurance runner, having achieved 17 European marathons and 5 Ultras to date. Between them, Karen and Aileen are well placed to support female runners of all abilities, who are looking for simple nutritional ways to support running performance, energy, endurance, and general great health.
